Keeping up with the Coach - May
Welcome to my new video and written blog series: Keeping up with the Coach.
My aim with this is to answer a number of questions that I get from people about what I get up to on a day to day basis that do not fit into specific videos or articles of their own.
You asked for it so here it is.
The footage is pretty raw and I try to be as open and transparent as possible. If you have any questions, topics or things you want we to cover please just let me know.
What am I training for at the moment.
- The 3000 km unsupported Tour of Aoteroa which will be held in February 2016. Details can be found here for those who are intrested.
How am I training at the moment
- I am doing a mix of wind trainer sessions, running, home based strength and outdoor riding (mostly at night) to maximise the time or lack of time I have at the moment. I have been finding training pretty tough over the last month with our 4 month old daughter not sleeping very well so I have had to adjust things to take into account the lack of sleep.
Typical training week over May
Monday: I have been kicking off the week doing the functional strength sessions from Strength Training for Cyclists - you can get a free preview here if you want to find out more.
Tuesday: I take a 6:15 am spin class + normally run 4.5 km to and from
Wednesday: I do one of the high intensity interval sessions from the Top Secret Indoor Training Sessions on the wind trainer at lunch time - or have a recovery day depending on how the week is panning out.
Thursday: Run, wind trainer or strength session depending on what happened yesterday
Friday: Recovery day
Saturday: Long ride on Friday or Saturday evening depending on what is going on
Sunday: Family exploring day + HIIT wind trainer session during afternoon nap time
